Volans Extra Anejo Tequila (750ml / 40%)

Volans Extra Añejo is aged for over 3 1/2 years in used American White Oak Barrels. The colour is lighter than normal extra añejos due to the age of our barrels (20+ years). Although light in colour, it shows every bit of character you want in an extra añejo, including agave. Made from fully mature Blue Weber agave and a mix of three sources of water – Rain, +450ft deep well, and spring water. It has been oxygenated or aerated.

Volans tequila is the love child of now husband and wife team, Chad and Cristina Allen and Chad's mother Lonnie Allen. Everything about this brand screams family, values and tradition.

Their journey began after traveling extensively to Guadalajara and experiencing 100% agave tequila. Their family friends, who owned their own tequila, gave them 50 bottles for their wedding and since then they dreamed of owning their own brand.

The groundwork began by finding a location for to plant their agaves. Miguel (Cristina's father), being an expert, found the field, planted, and has been tending to the precious agaves. The next step was to find a distillery. The search was not only to find a high-quality distiller but to find a place that shared the same values as they did; as a family and as a business.

The search took a lot longer than expected. For over a year, Miguel visited nearly 90 distilleries. In early 2016, Miguel was in Arandas at a fair in the central square. El Pandillo had a booth and he got a chance to sample their tequila. He visited El Pandillo the next day and over the next couple of months a partnership was formed.

El Pandillo is a multi-generational family business that focuses on the quality of the product from start to finish; they honour traditional ways, hold family and family values close, focus on sustainability, find ways of protecting our environment, and give back to their community.

Volans is owned and managed by Lonnie Allen, Chad Allen, & Cristina Allen. It is their love of Mexico, the culture, the food, the people, and the tequila that drives them to bring the best tasting tequila to you.

AROMA: Cooked agave, vanilla, oak, pitted fruits, citrus.
TASTE: Cooked agave, vanilla, fruit, butterscotch, pepper. A nice viscous mouthfeel with an excellent lingering finish.
BARREL: Over 3.5 years in used American oak barrels
